Pre-Blended Herbal Hair Colours

This range consists of 12 shades due to the addition of vegetable colourings, herbs and spices (always 100% natural). These Pre-Blended Colours can also be mixed together for a personalised shade. Please contact us if you would like some suggestions.

Use the Pre-Blended Colours to enhance your hair's natural colour and highlights or create a deeper, richer shade. The colours are translucent, giving light and dark tones throughout the hair wherever there is a variation of colour producing a natural looking result. Henna cannot make your hair lighter because it does not have any harsh chemicals to strip away the colour.

Results vary for those with grey hair depending on the particular shade used. In general, the colour will provide only light coverage and some shades will show brighter due the grey and white hairs being a lighter base colour and more resistant to dyes. This allows the Pre-Blended Colours to give a lovely highlighted effect for those with a scattering of grey hair throughout, whereas those with more concentrated areas of grey hair will achieve a much better coverage with our Premium Hair Colours.

These Pre-Blended Colours also have fantastic conditioning properties. They will provide extra body to the hair, making it smoother, softer and easier to brush. Your hair will become glossy, dandruff-free and healthy.

Premium Hair Colours

By preparing each herb individually, prior to combining them together (as we have with our Pre-Blended Hair Colours), we can create a dye that has maximum effect. This is essential for those who would like to achieve better coverage of grey hair or those who require a longer-lasting colour.

These Premium Hair Colours will also provide the highest quality of natural colour and conditioning results. They need to be applied heavily, as a mud-pack, to achieve a rich colour with even coverage. We recommend using the following amounts for each application;

• 50g - for each REGROWTH touch-up application
• 100g - for SHORT hair
• 150g - for SHOULDER-LENGTH hair
• 200g - for LONG hair (to upper-back)
• 250g - for LONG hair (to mid-back)

*An extra 50g - 100g may be required for those with EXTRA-LONG or THICK hair types.

Custom Blends - The following shades consist of pre-measured portions of our 100% Pure Henna and Indigo Powders. Our step-by-step instruction brochure will guide you through the process of preparing and applying these Premium Hair Colour.

A glossy BLACK colour can also be achieved by using Henna and Indigo in a 2-step application process - apply Henna first, rinse off, then apply Indigo as a second separate application. Yes, it does take twice as much time and it does use twice the amount of product but the results are fantastic - it really is the only way to achieve a long-lasting black colour without the use of chemical dyes.

Alternatively, you may prefer to customise your own blend - it's easy with a set of kitchen scales (always weigh your portions rather than use the spoon-for-spoon method as some powders are heavier than others resulting in ratios being measured inaccurately). Be sure to keep the powders separate during the preparation and then combine them just before use. Use the following ratios as a guide to achieve a variety of colours.

• Deep Copper Red - 3 parts Henna to 1 part Indigo
• Brownish Auburn Red - 2 parts Henna to 1 part Indigo
• Medium Warm Brown - Equal amounts of Henna and Indigo
• Rich Dark Brown - 1 part Henna to 2 parts Indigo
• Darkest Brown - 1 part Henna to 3 parts Indigo
• Black - Use Henna first, rinse off, then apply Indigo as a second separate application

*Add Amla to assist dye absorption, create cooler tones and provide extra body to the hair. Use 25g Amla for each 100g of Henna and/or Indigo.

*Add Cassia to lessen the colour and provide extra shine and conditioning. Use more Cassia to make the colour more subtle. For just a hint of colour and lots of conditioning, try a 'gloss' - 9 parts Cassia to 1 part Henna and/or Indigo.

100% Pure Henna for Hair

Our 100% Pure Henna for Hair is a body art quality powder, finely-sifted with a superior dye content. It is shipped to us directly from the grower, ensuring it's freshness and purity.

Natural Henna has a red-orange dye molecule which will penetrate and dye your hair's keratin. The result will be a combination of your starting colour and the red-orange colour of natural henna. For example, 100% Pure Henna will show as a vibrant red on blonde hair, as auburn on brown hair and it will provide a subtle red shine to black hair.

Grey and white hair will become bright copper red due to it having a lighter base colour. This can give a lovely highlight effect for those with a scattering of grey hair throughout, whereas more concentrated areas of grey hair will benefit from the inclusion of 100% Pure Indigo to achieve a deeper shade of colour. Adding a little Indigo to the mix will tone the brightness of the Henna whereas a lot of Indigo in the mix will change the colour from red to brown (see the custom blends information above for suggestion).

Natural Indigo has a dark-blue dye molecule which will penetrate and dye your hair's keratin. The result will be a combination of your starting colour and the dark-blue colour of natural indigo. For example, 100% Pure Indigo will show as a grey-blue rinse on blonde hair, as a blue-charcoal tone on brown hair and it will provide a cool blue-black colour to black hair.

Of course, these blue-ish shades are not for everyone. In fact, Indigo provides it's best results when used in conjuction with 100% Pure Henna. The dark-blue colour of Indigo balances with the red-orange colour of natural Henna, producing rich reds (without being brassy or bright), earthy chestnut browns and deep, warm brunette tones. A glossy black colour can also be achieved by using both Henna and Indigo - apply Henna first, rinse off, then apply Indigo as a second separate application.
